Kolkata : A 18-member Chinese delegation comprising ten companies of the Guangxi province interacted with city-based businessmen on Friday to discuss ways to boost business links.
The meeting was organised by the Federation of Indian Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME). Mukesh Kalra, joint secretary of the organisation, said the discussions were encouraging. The Chinese team had also interacted with Mumbai-based businessmen on Tuesday. On April 2, they would be meeting the entrepreneurs in Delhi.
In Kolkata, the Chinese businessmen discussed the possibilities of setting up heavy industries for which they are ready to provide technical support. They even expressed interest in setting up dry cell battery and agro equipment units.
Kalra said that several mechanical engineering companies were also present at the deliberations. With it being difficult for businessmen to decide something conclusively in so short a period, similar meets would be held soon so that more business possibilities turn into reality, he added.
